New Haven Reads Book Drive Poster MakingJust before winter break, the JHSC Student Council sponsored a community service workshop dedicated to New Haven Reads, an organization with a mission to “share the joy and power of reading.”  Among other services, New Haven Reads operates a free book bank and offers one-on-one tutoring.  As an all-school project, the students participated and used their artistic talents to make posters which will be used to jump start JHSC’s New Haven Reads book drive.  “We are collecting books here at the school through January 31st,” said Eva Gerber, Student Council Community Service Coordinator.  In addition to the making posters, the students also penned letters to military service members stationed abroad, to pen-pals at a Chinese orphanage and Jewish prisoners.  See Photos Here

Ms. Gerber encourages everyone to look on their bookshelves for books to donate!  For more information contact
